REALLY Quick Post

I won 3rd place at the Juried Member Exhibition at the Pyramid Atlantic. My original blog post about it can be found here. 250+ pieces were entered so it was a huge honor. I can't wait to take the beautiful ribbon made by Elle Friedberg, and that sweet, sweet prize money (which God knows I need after paying for framing; by the way both of my pieces are for sale).

^^^Criteria for getting into the art show: I feel like my “practice,” is a bit haphazard as opposed to meticulous. As for having a “social justice bend,” I said in my artist statement that I drew these women to "show the joy of having a larger body and highlight the importance of representation." This is technically true, but I said it because I needed a fancy way to say, “I like drawing fat girls”.

It was unexpected and nice. I got waitlisted at all of the conventions I applied to this year, so this was a much needed boost. "Two steps forward, one step back," seems to apply to both my life and career.
